Overview

Scrum Educational Experience UK creates agile-centric bespoke training and development programs for schools, universities, and corporate organisations. By focusing on people rather than problems, SEE’s unique approach to education intends to challenge the way that students and teachers approach learning.

Unfortunately, SEE’s previous website didn’t complement its strengths. Content was visually inconsistent and lacked important information that connected its audience with its message. Properly demonstrating SEE’s value proposition required a visual and structural overhaul of the website and a reimagining of how written content was used – a tough ask considering its lack of resources.

Process

We first organised a content workshop with SEE to better understand its core message and service scope. This was crucial, as a fresh perspective was necessary to reimagine how audiences understood SEE.

Rather than building a website in a traditional way, we worked with SEE to develop a strategy that complemented its approach to education. Avion led a lean approach that involved producing the copy and managing SEE interns and contractors to plan, design and develop the site. This arrangement allowed SEE to compensate for a lack of resources while also providing its team with hands-on learning opportunities.

So that everyone understood their roles and responsibilities, we created project milestones that focused on key areas of redevelopment. Our milestones were broken up into four key areas that we tackled over the course of several months. These were:

  • Content planning and copywriting
  • Website design
  • Website redevelopment
  • UX optimisation
The entire project team was spread across 4 time zones. So rather than one Zoom call per week, we set a dedicated calendar event weekly in which everyone reviewed and reported on their tasks in Trello. This kept everyone involved and accountable without subject team members to early morning starts or late evening meetings.

Outcome

With a team of hard-working juniors on board and a lean approach in mind, the project’s success hinged on our extensive content and client management experience. As senior members of the team, we provided guidance and suggestions every step of the way to help the interns learn and grow as they worked.

Progress was also managed through weekly updates that helped us touch base with interns and troubleshoot where required. Alongside our contributions to copy, we provided guidance and suggestions related to user experience, visual design and site functionality to keep the junior team on the right track.

The end result represented an achievement for both Avion and SEE. Together we created a website that better connected SEE with its audience and upskilled talented young people in the process.

“When I started creating SEE back in 2015 It was just an initiative under the umbrella of my other company. As it grew very quickly, I ended up having to register it under a separate brand. Being a startup owner, I was very busy and struggled to create an unique identity for my new startup. Working with the Avion team really helped to get the crucial information out of my head and endless Google Drive documents and turn it into a clear copy that could be incorporated into our new website. In only 2 months we have done more than I tried working through for over five years. Thank you so much for supporting us!”
