Whether you’ve worked in finance for decades or only know that you need to lodge a tax return every year – it’s hard to miss that June is kind of a big deal in the finance sector.
The end of financial year has business owners and employees alike scrambling to wrap up work, make budget and make those last few tax-deductible purchases.
In honour of this finance-geared time of the year we thought we’d take the chance to talk about why we think working in the financial services and fintech space is… er, kind of cool!
The sector is always changing
Whether we’re talking regulation changes (often spear-headed by movements like the current Royal Commission), or new technologies (like new payment methods or optimising content for voice search), finance is ever evolving and always interesting.
As writers who work a lot in the finance space, this presents a challenge – and we’re keen to embrace it!
Meeting regulations makes us think creatively
Creating content in the financial services sector can quite a challenge. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) regulations set clear boundaries on what financial institutions can and can’t say.
This has flow on consequences that affect the way both financial products are marketed. For us, this means writing carefully and creatively, and sometimes rethinking SEO strategies.
Customer experience is front and centre
As the finance industry is a highly competitive space, a dedication to customer experience and great web usability is integral. From research and discovery, through implementation and on-going optimisation, the customer’s needs play a huge influence on the way we work.
Not only does this require us to flex our empathy, it also lets us use our skills in customer journey mapping, information architecture (IA) mapping and auditing.
Till next time,
Alexandra and the Avion Team
