If we haven’t met before, I’m Alexandra (or Ally) Hallam, Project Manager here at Avion. This month marks the beginning of my fourth year here, so what better time to launch our new “Who writes your copy?” series? Keep an eye out over the coming months, as the members of Team Avion will be sharing a bit about themselves.
Highlights and key projects
One of my highlights was one of my very first projects here – the University of Melbourne Staff Hub. What a project to cut my teeth on! Through those 18 months I not only honed my skills in auditing, IA development, user-centricity and content strategy, but also my soft skills in managing and mentoring other writers.
This year, my highlights have included working in-house for six weeks at a well-known infrastructure company, and our team values and vision retreat in July.
Best thing I’ve learnt while at Avion
I love learning about usability and accessibility – and particularly the role content plays in creating a good user experience. That’s why I still frequently think of the lessons I learnt at last year’s UX Australia conference.
Fun facts about me
- I live in Castlemaine with my husband Justin and my 17-year old cat Chester. I commute in every morning on the 6:02 train!
- I love trying new foods and snacks.
- I’m one of those people who’s always on the lookout for a new podcast. I’m really excited for the second season of Accused. If you have a recommendation, drop me a line.
Till next time!
