Staff hub project for the University of Melbourne.
— Andy Marais, University of Melbourne, Prospect and Communications
Project overview
Before the Staff Hub project, the University of Melbourne’s staff information was fragmented across all of the University’s different schools. We were tasked with consolidating this into one central Staff Hub – a single source of truth for 8,000 staff across a large, complex organisation that needed to remain usable, navigable, and consistent.

Staff couldn’t find critical workplace information because it was scattered across dozens of school-specific sites with inconsistent naming, structure, and quality.
The University needed to:
Over 18 months, we worked with hundreds of stakeholders to audit existing information, develop the Staff Hub’s information architecture, and write thousands of pages in Word and SharePoint.
The University underwent considerable organisational change during the project. We worked with four different project managers and evolving stakeholder needs, requiring flexibility, strong governance, and a structured content approach to maintain clarity and consistency across the expanding content ecosystem.
The new Staff Hub delivered a 400% increase in monthly page views, improved information clarity, and stronger cohesion across the University of Melbourne’s schools. It now serves as a central, trusted resource where staff can easily find information, complete tasks, and stay informed.
From full website migrations that bring purpose and vision to life to turning complex research into landmark national conversations, we help organisations transform complexity into clarity and impact.
